Iowa update complete with measurements

List,
Dan here with an Iowa update for any who might care.
Our 2 patches on the north side of town have taken a beating. The heat
has taken it's toll on my 935 Lloyd and the 815 Andersen both have been
culled completely out. The plant inbetween these is a 634 Andersen. I
was pruning this one back cause it seemed alot slower than the other 2
but as it turns out I wish I could add a little plant back to it. Oh
well! It has a fruit on it that was pollinated on July 1st. Measurements
on july 29th were 107 X 72 wide X 65 long.
Partner daves patch consist of the Carlson 582 and rocky's squash. All
the fruit has burned off the squash I mean every last ONE. Plant looks
like it's a 100 years old. Will cull this one out VERY soon. Sorry
Rocky. The 582 Has several fruit but nothing really to promising.
My patch at home Has a huge 431 Carlson plant with no fruit currently.
Early fruit aborted and then 1 that had set split out when about the
size of a vollyball. Have been Icing a fruit that opened on the hottest
day of the year (29th). To early to tell if it will stay on. It's
getting to late for this one. Also the stump will some be cut off AGAIN
just like last year. Bummer
The other plant at home is a 791 Glasier and other than being one of
the strangest plants I've ever grown it seems to be pushing along OK.
Fruit set on this one July 1st Also. On the 29th is was measuring out at
107 x 65 wide X67 long. Nice shoulder developing. looks alittle like
hollands 827. Nice color also starting to show. smooth skin
So far I guess the year is OK considering the weather!! I really
doubt ifthey will keep going. Stress has got to of taken a toll.
The Carlsons Dan and Beth
