Short tale from the Back Porch
Can punkins grow up too fast too soon, just like our grandchildren? My
generic storebought seed has taken off like a kid on a skateboard. At
the first streak of dawn, it popped from its mound and by 9 am the
leaves were as big as a family-size pie tin. During the noon break, I
spied the already mature male blossoms pitching woo to the still dewey
females, and by the time the sun set I was culling basketball size fruit
while saving only those beachball size and larger.
A question for the list... is dawn too early to get off my rocker?
