First pumpkin, Huge pumpkin?

List,

I'm curious as to how many 800+ pumpkins were first pollinations on the main
vine no matter what the distance.  I generally attempt pollination of
anything on the main but I'm wondering how many heavy-hitters wait 'til they
have a female at say 12' or further.  I know several big ones have been
grown closer to the stump but are these exception and not the rule?
