Re: mourning
Moles are hard to eliminate because they are always
making new runs and don't use their old ones that
often. There are two types of traps you can get. One
is a scissors type and the other looks like a "bed of
nails." I've had my best luck with the bed of nails
type. I've never had any luck with poison or gasses.
The real trick to catching them is to find a run that
they are using. To do this - tramp down six inches of
a run and leave the rest intact. Then check back for
several days and see if they have fixed it. If you
find one that they fix, set your trap on that run.
Moles are annoying and damage roots with all their
digging but they don't usually kill a plant since they
eat grubs and worms. Gopher's will sometimes eat the
roots of plants and kill them. Make sure that what
you have is not a gopher because you can't catch
gopher's with a mole trap.
