mourning

Hello all,

I am one of the 771 Rockwell experiments. Things have been going
ok till yesterday. I have planted 2 plants in my dad's patch. The first one
"Marlin" was going strong and had good growth. Thought I was really gonna
get something out of him. The second one "Sterling" was a runt. He looked
sick, was slow to grow and way behind the others. Just knew for sure I would
lose him. But this last week "Sterling" has doubled in size and has really
taken off. I thought wow this will be a good first year for me. Then
yesterday my get the phone call I have been dreading. My dad tells me we
lost "Marlin". Moles have dug under him and killed all the roots. Nothing
could be done. So now as I mourn the loss of "Marlin" I can at least go on
having high hopes with "Sterling". Does anyone else have moles? What do you
do about them? If a mole comes near "Sterling" I don't want to think what I
might do. Thanks for any help.
