Which is preferable?

Question for the experienced growers on the list:
All other things being equal, which scenerio may be better for growing a 
larger pumpkin:

A)  One that's pollinated July 1st, 10 feet out on the main vine

B)  One that's pollinated July 8th, 15 feet out - (has fewer growing days, 
but more
      leaves and anchor roots preceeding it to provide energy for growth).
