Let the Vines GROW !!! The later you pollinate the less days the pumpkin has
to grow but the better chance you have on putting more lbs on per day !!!
plus allot of the growth of a pumpkin comes from between the stump and the
pumpkin so let it grow a bit and try and set the pumpkin as close to 10 feet as you
can. I pollinated the 703 Smith* on July 17th and it hauled buns and caught
the rest of my pumpkins within a few days !! the other thing was the 703*
started slowing down and stopped growing at the same time the rest of the pumpkins
did so YES i lost a few days but setting a pumpkin farther out was a GREAT
thing for me that year !!! Give it a try !!! Hope everyone is having a GREAT 2003
