Twisted Vines

Hi everyone,
All of my plants have been growing very well here in Connecticut. But we've
had a lot of thunderstorms that had heavy winds. My plants started to run
about 10 days ago with the side vines gradually popping out. But I did not
bury the main yet.
On two of the plants, one of those windstorms twisted the vines and flipped
it over. The twist on the vine is about a foot or two from the stump. Each one
has started to split. One plant is split worse than the other. I repaired the
vertical splits with Captan and covered with plastic bags that were twist tied
on.
On the one plant that has small splits, I'm considering gently turning the
vine back over. there's about 3-4 feet to turn over with very short side
vines. But this will be a delicate process with some risk to the plant if I'm
not careful. I just want to know from anyone if you think it's worth doing
that or will the plant be fine and just not have tap roots for those few
feet.
  Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Steve in Ct.
