If a goafer is the same as a wood chuck , they are big trouble. Very
distructive, once planted the entire veggie garden , went up to the house
for lunch. When  we came back the little buddy had eaten and or ripped up
almost every thing.
We got a 22 also . A large dog can be of help , but I wouldn't mix the two.
