Melinda -
I believe that technically they are both squash, but perhaps
the best way of answering is to quote the following from
the weighoff rules of the Ottawa-St. Lawrence Growers:
"a) Giant Pumpkin - a fruit cream-yellow to orange in
colour.
b) Squash - a fruit green to grey or mottled in colour."
Other pumpkin organizations make essentially the same
distinction.
