On my Holland 849, I am having the same problem , or very similar.. My
male flowers are not getting to the maturity stage, and it has brought
about some concern. They all look like they are going well, but the head
of the flower is actually just sitting on the stem, in which I am aware
fo this because I can just reach out an pluck it off with out any
force.. I fortunately have other means of male flowers, but would like
to know what is going  on here.. the plant is very healthy, leaves are
24-25 inches across, 2-3 ft high, and the main is about 16 ft long..
