I checked with Mike Brock about how this silly idea got started. His
opinion was that people started pumpkins on manure heaps at dairy farms
where they also poured out the spoiled milk. Since great things happened
plantwise, the great growth got attributed to the milk, not the COW DOO. 
Milk is 90% water, at least. It contains grease, (butter fat) and
calcium. The grease is not good for plants. Water is available in
cheaper forms. Balanced soil contains calcium.
Forget milk fed pumpkins.
Now, powdered kelp mists --that's another story.
