Hi,
Last year someone on the list suggested using something large like a ice
cream or frozen yogurt tub. You cut out the bottom and use it upside down.
When you are ready to transplant, you just take off the lid (which is now
the bottom of the pot) and put it down in the hole. Since the tub is upside
down, the top is narrower than the bottom so you can just lift it off
without disturbing the roots. I tried this last year and it worked very
well -- I wish I could remember who suggested it.

PS: I know this is obvious, but you need to poke holes in the lid (bottom)
for drainage.
