Pumpkins With No/Few seeds...

Stelts 1140 had plenty of seeds, I believe. However, I just got a note from
the LaRues. Their 1010 had fewer than 80 good seeds, they say -- and I
didn't get one, by the way.

That is now at least 3 pumpkins over 1000 lbs. with few/no seeds. I have to
wonder if there isn't some growing practice that pushes the fruit into
record territory, at the expense of seed production.

If there were lots of lower weight pumpkins lacking in seeds, it might argue
against this possibility.

Larry, I know you monitor this list, do you have a sense as to whether any
growing practice you and Gerry employed might have resulted in a loss of
seed production in Whomper and Moonie in 1999? I take it your pumpkins this
year produced sufficient seed -- what did you do differently this year
compared with last?
