Re: cover crop tilling question

Karri,
I grow winter rye every year as cover crop or also called green manure.
1. If the rye is more than 6" I always mow or weed eat it. Then till it in.
I never let it get more than 10". If it is it's ok but just tougher to till.
2. If you had a soil test use recommended
fertilizers etc. Yes you can add the necessary ferts granules, lime, gypsum
or whatever else you need and till it in. I usually allow about a month
before tilling once more and transplanting.
3. Stay on this site and keep asking questions. Someone will always answer
them.
Feel free to write and ask me anytime. I'll be glad to lead you through it.
