Mounding pumpkin vines.

I was reading in the "Frequiently Asked Questions" section and ran
across mounding the vines.  I plan to try mounding the vines this year,
and wonder if there were any other ideas as far as when to start
mounding the vines, how close to the fruit do you mound, and do you
mound the vine past the fruit set.  Do side runners need to be mounded?
How deep do you bury the vines?  Anything different than the FAQ
suggests?
