Ron:
You are asking whether to add one or two tablespoons of miracle grow to each
gallon of water that you add to your plants? Well another consideration is
"How many gallons of water are you adding and how"? Along the vine? At the
base of the plant? How often?
There are many ways to do this. One way is to add one tablespoon to each
gallon of water and to distribute two to four gallons of water to each plant
by putting it along the main vines and at the base of the plant three times a
week. Diluting it down in this manner tends to keep from burning the leaves
though the more concentrated solution of two tablespoons per gallon probably
would not hurt them.
The main rule for adding fertilizer is to add it slowly and regularly and in
amounts that will replace what the plants are using up and what is washed out
of the soil by your watering techniques. If you could start out with perfect
fertilizer content in your soil at the beginning of the year and then just
maintain it throughout the season in as constant a manner as possible, I
believe that would be ideal.
There are many thoughts on this and by persons much more expert than I.
