Don,
I grew the 697 last year which produced my 815 at the Half Moon Bay Weigh
off. Joel Holland, Kirk Mombert and Jack & Sherry LaRue also grew the 697.
It did not produce much to speak of for them. It is a very slow growing
compact plant. The fruit also grows very slow putting on much of it's weight
towards the later part of the season. It does have the tendency to produce
sag lines as was the case with the double sag lines in my Half Moon Bay
pumpkin. While the pumpkin was 3% heavy indicating thick walls, the walls
have a tendency to be thin in the upper portion of the fruit. The stems are
extremely long 8"- 9" making it an easy pumpkin to work with in terms of
stem stress. Hope this helps.
