Chlordane would probably be quite effective on almost any bug. It was
taken off the market because it took extremely long times for it to break
down. It would definitely enter the food chain and posed long term polution
problems. It was quite a killer of ants and termites. Don't know if it was
ever labeled for use on pumpkins.
