speaking of bugs...
I've been seeing these little beetle-y things - not more than 1/8 inch long,
with bright red heads that gradually shade back to a dark brown or black on
their little rear ends. I had assumed it was some sort of beneficial, as I
hadn't seen any damage, and because while the tulip poplars are blooming the
ants bring a few aphids around (tulip poplar nectar processed through the
aphid dairy system is some sort of ant aphrodisiasic, I think). Anyway, I
assumed these red/black beasties were scavenging for aphids. But now the
815 does have one spot of insect damage on it... with no other visible
pests. The aphids are minimal and don't seem to be where the damaged spot
is. Does anyone know what the red/black things might be??
Thanks,
Beth
