Re: Conditions
I just read Jake's report from Vancouver Island and would like to report on
how it is going a little to the south in Bremerton, Washington.
My name is Rich Koch and I am a first year grower. I have 2 plants started
and thank goodness they are in a greenhouse. The weather here has been
cloudy and not very warm.
This season I have an 878 Wilson ( 567.5 Mombert x 567.5 Mombert)
and a 733 Holland (567.5 Mombert x 567.4 Wallace). I germinated seeds on
4/17 and wonder now if I was too early for this area. Today , at 6 weeks,
the 878 Wilson is 5 feet long with the largest leaf 21" x 23". The 733
Holland is 6 feet long with the largest leaf 21" x 21". I am using a 16 x
16 foot greenhouse with an overhead watering system.
My only concern after reading a lot of reports is that I may have started
too early for this area. I would appreciate any comments from local growers.
My email address is rnkoch@silverlink.net for anyone that would like to
post privately.
Thank you,
Rich Koch
Bremerton, Washington
