seminar handouts

Some growers expressed an interest in
the handouts on genetics that were given
out at the Pacific Northwest Seminar.

Here is what is available......

The main handout is 17 pages long with
printing on both sides. It is entitled
"The Cucurbits: Cucumber, Melon, Squash
and Pumpkin". It may it have came from
a textbook or a study dated 1997. It discusses
cucurbits in general and has a little about
c. maxima (AG's) specifically. Some of the
topics covered are: seedling growth, genetic
and environmental effects on sex expression,
growth hormones, germination and pollen tube
growth, parthenocarpy and fruit growth.......just
to name a few.

The other handout is a glossary of genetic
terms that Professor Meyers used at the
Seminar. (2 pages).

Here's the math.......19 pages photocopied
on both sides at Kinko's costs .15 cents per
page. Thats $2.85.........postage is $1.30
and a large manila for mailing .15 cents.
Total $4.30

List grower Lorie Carriere suggested
doing a scan and using e-mail for
distribution. I don't have a scanner, even if
if did I think 38 pages would be a bit much to
scan.

So, the cost is $4.30 for anyone who wants
the handouts. E-mail me at
PumpkinDude@webtv.net if you are interested.

Thank you Mike Brock and Al Eaton for sharing
your thoughts of the Seminar video with the
list .........your input has hepled put the
gentic thing in perspective.
