Laurie,
It might be best to stick with water soluble fertilizers, rather than trying
to dissolve the granular. I would recommend putting down the granular
calcium nitrate before planting and tilling it in. Then it will be available
to the plant during the first 2 months or so. After that time, you should
stay away from the high nitrogen stuff.
