gigantic cotyledons

I have 14 day old plants at the 3 leaf stage they were started
indoors and transplanted a 7 days old. The cotyledons are huge, the largest
I have seen measuring nearly 6 inches tip to tip. Is this a good sign? so
far I have only used a small amount of blood meal and bone meal (along with
the manure and compost already in the soil) mixed in the soil in the
elevated mound. I placed a window over the top and keep raising it as they
grow I also put a blanket over it at night. Even though it has been
unseasonably cool lately the seedlings seem in good shape. Is there any
correlation between early leaf size and vigor to later plant growth or even
pumpkin size?
