I am experimenting with an area direct seeded and another with transplants
that were grown indoors for approximately two weeks before setting out in a
mini green house. After twelve days, the direct seeded plants have broken
ground. The transplants are about a foot tall but have not really started to
vine yet. Transplants have been out about ten days. I know there is a lot of
controversey as to which is the best method, direct seeding or transplanting.
I decided to try them both. Nights have been very cool for spring in the S.E.
Mass area. I think that this has inhibited some growth in the green house.
Temps are fine during the day reaching over ninety degrees. Night time
however is another story. I suspect that it gets into the forties in there.
