I see several posts asking about growing pumpkins in a sunken barrel filled
with sand and more or less trying to use hydoponic techniques with soluble
fertilizers to feed the plant. I had heard this was discussed at the Ottawa
Meeting. Turns out, this was not the case. However, I believe, some of the
growers are using a modification of this technique which is growing in boxes
of sand and with very high sand content in the garden, no actual soil, just
sand and organic materials. Any comments??
