John,
After reading your e-mail tonight, I decided to check to see if I had
roots coming out of my peat pots. I did. I started my seeds
last
Saturday morning, planning to give them a week in the peat pots
before putting them into my cold frames. Well, now I have
transplanted my biggest one (One Ton Cross....1061X1006) into
a cut off gallon milk jug and prepped my patch to plant this one
tomorrow night when I get home from work.
I probably should have left it in the peat pot and not transfered it
to
the milk jug, but I just couldn't stand seeing that little (I mean
vigorous)
root growing into nothing.
Next year I am going to germinate my seed as I did this year (damp
paper towel method), but then I am going to put them directly into
heated cold frames in the patch. No more peat pots... too
stressful.
PS. I don't agree with the Remington method of keeping away
pests....
I would use a WIINCHESTER!
