Found first cucumber beetles in garden today. Watch your patch! I
sprayed with seven. Most of my plants are forming 2nd. growth leaves. Last
year I had good luck going out at night with a flashlight. The beetles were
on top of the leaves breeding, I just pinched them with my fingers to kill
them. They did not attempt to fly away, maybe they were caught up in the
moment! I was diligent on this when the plants were small and hardly saw a
Cucumber beetle the rest of the summer. If you get them early like this you
really decrease your chances of the diseases that they spread also. Night is
also when the cutworm does its damage, look around the stem and the ground
for them also while you're out there. Nothing worse than finding your prized
seedling laying on the ground cut in two.
