Hello to the list

I am a first time pumpkin grower and have just logged on to your list.

An in-house pumpkin growing contest has developed at my work (just a few of
us for a bit of fun) but know that I have two Atlantic Giant seedlings I'd
like to do the best for them.   The patch that I have lined up to plant
them out in is rather damp (near a leaking waterpipe).  My reason for this
site selection is to get a lot of water to the plant over our South east
Australian summer (can get quite hot and dry at times).  

The query I have is how wet can the soil be before you have problems?  Is
this the type of area that would suit these pumpkins?

Any comments would be appreciated
