A Very Special Lady

Group,
In 1921, a special lady was born. She was one of
eleven children and grew up in a poverty stricken
deep south. She recently told me about how her
father would plant pumpkins in among the rows of
corn and how her mother would pick the young
fruit, batter and fry them much the same way as
we do crooked neck squash these days. She loved
pumpkins and Halloween was one of her favorite
times. We buried her last Monday, Nov. 9, and I
will miss her more than I can say. She was a
very special lady. Her name was Margaret Elizabeth
Conville Parsons. She was my mother.
