Ray, don't pat yourself on the back too hard...especially on the
Carolina
Cross watermelon. I remember the 208.5 & the 194 lbers that I entered
at WPC Collins in 1986. This was your first introduction to the
Carolina Cross melon. I also introduced you to LLoyd Bright down in
Arkansas who had been developing and "selling" the seeds to the public
way before you introduced them. Take care...and tell it like it is.

I have something to say here. Let this be a warning to those who don't
know that some top growers give away seed and don't sell it. Last year
I bought 3 seed from P&P for $10. Not one of them germinated. I was
able to acquire seed through this list from Joe Mills (SPGA) for free.
Every one of those seeds germinated and I grew a 360 pound pumpkin my
first year in an arid climate. You don't need to buy top name see
always. Some of the top growers will send you their seed if you just
ask them. I think that it is kind of flattering to know that people are
growing your pumpkin's seed. don't take on an unnecessary cost unless
it doesn't bother you. Our state champion from last year ordered seeds
from a large scale seed producer an grew a lovely, 400
pound,.........SQUASH!
