Re: Green mottle Bad ? Oregon Update

Just a thought on the whole Squash, Pumpkin, Squmpkin ordeal.  Genetically 
the Giant Squash and Giant Pumpkin (Who's to say it is even the same as an 
Atlantic Giant Anymore, but thats a whole other story) are exactly the same.  
They are Curcubita (SP?) Maxima.  Why not open the floodgates and have no 
pumpkin or squash class at all and just have "Largest Curcubita Maxima"  
There will not be a doubt any more as to if a fruit is 50% green, 17% purple 
with brown pokadots, 13% Orange, 10% Pink, 5% cream, and 5% transparent 
should be classed as a pumpkin or not.  
I have seen "Squmpkins" make it through competitions classed as pumpkins 
bumping out perfectly Orange "Pumpkins", and I have seen "Squmpkins" bump out 
perfectly Green "Squash".  I know traditionally we want orange fruit, orange 
pumpkins to win the prize money, but I would vote to go in favor of uniting 
into the one "Maxima" class, or adding a third class "Squmpkins" those half 
and halfers that only cause contreversy and hurt feelings.  

On the Oregon Update tip, all is okay here.  Got bit by a non-native spider 
that found its way to my upper forearm and inserted a nice little poison 
which rendered my blood unable to remove cholesterol.  Right now my blood 
test sets at a cholesterol level of 620.  The bite was lanced and drained 
again today and biopseyed (sp) and the dermatologist also found a nice sack 
of either poison, or immature eggs.  Really  pleasant let me tell you, 
especially when a doctor says "Well the worst case I have seen is when we 
lost a patient from a similar bite".  Good news, the blood has leveled off, 
bad news, I am now 2 weeks behind in the garden on the quest for SPT2K2K, or  
Squash and Pumpkin Totalling #2000 in 2000.
