Subject: RE: PGPGA Pennsylvania Pumpkin Bowl Vl Altoona, PA

GUS-

you didn't open up old wounds....
just trying to make a point by expanding on it.
by taking to an absurd extreme.
you know all that out of the box thinking that is
so popular these days.
you are seeing it from one point of view- a simple
squash vs pumpkin - point of view.

here is a quote of yours....
" I just hope a few more people can see this from the
point of view of someone who has grown a big squmpkin
that was pushed out of the big prize money because of
something out of his/her control. "

don't people who grow huge orange pumpkins
that have them split - one day before weigh off
get pushed out of ANY prize money because of something
that was out of his/her control ?

don't people who grow huge orange pumpkins that have
them weight light get pushed out of big prize money
because of something that was out of his/her control ?

don't people who grow " intsert anything but pumpkin "
get push out of the big prize money because
of something that was out of his/her control ?

we'd all like more money for prizes.
BUT it isn't there. so the people in charge of
the weigh offs do the best they can with what
they have.
they have sponsers put up the money and hope
the crowds show up- see there stuff - buy
their product...
what if the weigh off organizers and and the
sponsers get together and decide to offer
$ 10,000 for the largest carrot ?
will the crowds come ?
it a suppy and demand thing... it's free
enterprize. it's america.
what address do you send your posts too ?
squmpkin@mallorn.com ? squash@mallorn.com ?
no- i think it's pumpkins@mallorn.com !

history has shown that the people come out to
see pumpkins... pumpkins as defined by whom
ever is in charge. which in most cases is-
heavy pumpkin not OTT pumpkin- orange, salmon,
pink, white, cream, not blue or green pumpmkin.
pumpkins that are whole and intact and not split.
Pumpkins- not carrot or something else.

my point is that we all live and die by the same
rules.

and like i said before you are free to make input to
those that make them.
but don't complain because your plant threw a squash.
and the PGPGA is only giving $100 for the largest
squash. some weigh offs give $0 for squash.
- lot of people aren't taking anything at all
to the weigh off- because of something that was
out of his/her control and aren't getting anything.

If you'd like to be, or round up a,
sponser to give $1000 more to the weigh off -
specifically for squash... well i bet they wouldn't
turn you down.

I wish you well and hope you grow a big Pumpkin,
squash, carrot or what ever else you want.
gordon
