Re: Pumpkins in Near-Desert areas

I grow AG's in Southern California on the edge of the desert about 45
miles west of Palm Springs, CA. Annual rainfall is about 14 inches. Two
years ago (my first) I had pretty good luck using unknown seeds from a
catalog. The 100+ heat didn't cause much problems. This year I had much
better seed stock but planted later. The results were much less
spectacular.

You should be able to grow AG's if you shade them and have cool enough
weather to get the fruit to set. Good Luck!
