"The Collins Long Gourd" finally gets recognized. After 6 years of
development and a world record back in 1990 our efforts (mine and my son
Andy's -he was 8yrs old at the time) will be rewarded by exposure on national
TV thanks to Steve. The "Guinness Book of Record" still lists my brother
Pete's 110 5/8 in 1994 specimen as the record. The development of a new
competitive variety gives one a certian satisfaction. Unlike the pumpkin, I
still have the 99 in shell in the attic!

Thanks to all who grow the "Collins Long Gourd" - how about a little goal of
 10 ft?

Ray and all
I haven't grown long gourds yet, but I think I will try next year. Steve is
already thinking 10ft.
National exposure is great for all of us involved in growing any of the
giants.
It looks like Tuesday will be the big day for the long gourd, Steve, you , and
all of us interested in this growing hobby/sport of growing giants.

So, everyone, make a note to watch Regis and Kathy Tuesday. See one of our
list members hit the big time, National TV. I'll be watching and
taping........Marv Hicks

Here is what I just received from Steve:
Marv,
The word is Tuesday. The show will be taped on Monday after the live show.
Only 16 hours to go. Oh man!
Steve
