Ray has no AG Plant Variety Protection (PVP), only Howard. It is my
understanding that Ray can sell seeds because of an agreement made long ago
with Dill.
The PVP laws are USA only laws and it was only in the USA that Dill sought
PVP protection. Seeds sales of AG seeds in Canada have no such sale
restriction.
Howard's PVP No. is 8500204.
It was issued 05/30/1986 and thus expires 5/30/06. After that USA sales will
be wide open.

As to selling seeds for a profit I am finding it harder and harder to take
exception. While I would love to have free seeds from every giant, the
reality is that as the prizes in this sport get bigger, free seeds from
record AG's will become less and less likely. Getting paid for participating
in any sport we love is just a bonus. Just a different kind of monetary
return than the prize money that might have come to a grower had his fruit
made it to a weigh off. When I grow a pumpkin big enough to take home Ray's
big prizes I will have to trade my pumpkin (and all of its seeds) for his
money. Seems like it would just be a Sale of ALL of my seeds at once, but a
sale of seeds nevertheless.

When I grew my 819 I gave away free seeds. When I grow a 1119 Ray will own
my seeds ( and I his prize money) so you will have to talk to him about free
seeds. :-)
