Re: Advice Needed

Have no idea what it could be but have an idea how to stop it.  Try some small mesh chicken wire over the entire stump area or buy some hot pepper wax or similar deterrent from your local garden store. Maybe try some cayenne pepper, garlic or anything along those lines.  I have a local ally can that comes in my patch and uses it for a littler box. I see where it has dug around and covered up but hasn't caused any damage so I don't bother with it.

Good luck, One of the above should work,

Hello & thanks in advance for any advise you could give me. Maybe everything has been going too smoothly this summer.  This past week something has been digging around the patch. (only by the stump)  It digs all the dirt about 3" or 4" deep & is exposing the roots around the stump.  So far it hasn't done any damage.  I even tried putting plastic sticks into the ground around the area, but this creature still keeps digging. Any ideas? Shirley DeWitteCleveland, Ohio Grower
