1064.5 Needham 2000 EXH

I just got home from Carp Fair - the final resting spot for my biggy for this year.
I had my hopes set on this pumpkin to go all the way this year but it developed a series of small cracks running 90 degrees to the ribs across the saglines last Saturday and needed somewhere to get the fruit to a scales with witnesses - so the little town of Carp this year will see the biggest pumpkin ever shown there by more than 300 pounds over the previous biggest of 748pounds.

It was weighed tonight at 1064.5 pounds with local grower Harold Baird in attendance as witness amongst others.
The fruit was grown from the Hester 862.5 squash seed - thanks Brett!
Final measurements were 171-101-102 = 374ott - 1003 est lbs.
The amazing thing about this fruit is the fact that it was still gaining a solid 10-12 lbs per day right up till the time I cut it. I had thought about trying to get another weeks growth out of it - but the weather here has been warm and do not think that it would make it another week without turning into a pile of slop.
Last year it was early exit in August with my 710 this year it's a little closer to weighoff date - maybe 2001 will be my year to get a biggy to Weighoff date.
Pictures available later this week.
