Because I am the owner of the record page and worked
on it for many years... I don't care when or where you
weighed the pumpkin/squash, I would like to have you
prove it to me that you honestly did have a
pumpkin/squash and you had it weighed on a certified
scale with a witness and a photo. If you want it bad
enough... prove it.
Taking your pumpkin to an official pumpkin weigh off,
is the preferred method, but if you will not make
it.... take it in and get it weighed.
I will make a special note stating something similar
what Mike is proposing. I will not record tape
measurements... it must be on the scale.
Some pumpkin growers know there flawed pumpkin can
beat the state record, but due to politics and
personal growers pride, they will not step forward to
tell the world.
At one time, I had Sherry LaRue's Pumpkin being the
largest in Washington state with a comment attached,
and I also listed Linclons pumpkin as the GPC approved
record holder.
Just use some common sense... take photos, zero out
the scale, find out the tolerance of the scale, weigh
the pumpkin only and nothing else, take photos with a
friend by your pumpkin... just be honest.
My pumpkin still is the largest... on paper....joking
