Re: INDIANA STATE RECORD/ Integrity ?

They way I see it, the pumpkin was solid and inspectors said it was ok 30 seconds before it was weighed. If the rot would have shown up 30 seconds after it was weighed, or 10 minutes later after it had been taken off the scale, would it still be official? I assume their should be a more specific rule, as to how long a pumpkin needs to be sound after it is weighed. I would give him the record. The pumpkin was sound minutes before it was weighed and if handled a bit differently, it may have stayed sound for much longer. Give him the record, and let this experience lead to more specific rules.

Drew and Wayne,
Are you both willing to say that if the IPGA
recognizes this that we are in no way sacrificing our integrity as a group?
This pumpkin was leaking while it was still on the scale. Don't you think we
should at least be concerned about this. The reason it took us a few days
was simple. The board has not had an easy time with this decision. We all
like Tom but do not want to be seen as a group that will allow a pumpkin not
up to standard be called a state record.
Does anyone on this list have a problem with it being a state record?
I am curious.

Brad
