Hi Tim, thanks for your responses. The last post I read before going to bed last night was to seal the cracks with caulking so that's what I did at 7:00am this morning. The crack is actually where the stem joins the pumpkin so I'm pretty certain it went right into the cavity. In other words, it's not right in the stem. I checked tonight and the seal seems to be holding. The posts last night made me pretty worried about the pumpkin beginning to rot from within. What do you think?
I had also read before that it's a good idea to spray your pumpkins with a mild solution of water and bleach so I also did that tonight. I know this won't help the crack problem but I understood it helps with external rotting/fungus.
Any advice you have would be appreciated. I'm at approximately 360 pounds right now and still shooting for 400. 360 is still 3 times my personal best thanks to your seed!
thanks
Dave
