harvesting - Signed Guestbook

Hello, lots of information on starting the great pumpkin, but unable to
find the
information I need on when to harvest and how to store the pumpkins
until Halloween. Also have lost another pumpkin that was about 9ft
around due to cracking. This is the second year this has happen. Did I
leave it on the vine to long? Any information you have would be great.
 Thanks Jackie

Harvest pumpkins when they are fully colored and their shell is hard, or
after light frost has killed the vines. Store in a dry, cool area.
Pumpkins keep for several months but lose flavor in long storage. The
cooked flesh freezes well, however....cultivars meant for cooking, such
as Small Sugar, are better eating than a Atlantic Giant.

Why buy plants when you can grow them yourself.....?
