I've been using Duncan's weight estimator since the beginning of August and
always found it to be within 3-4 lbs. of the OTT chart of Len Stellpflug
('97).I believe once you get into the 220+ OTT range the weight estimator
is an invaluable tool to track daily weight gain.
As of today, my 1016 LaRue is at 404 lbs. but has developed several stem
splits. This one was crossed with the 871 Richart and should produce
excellent seed stock.
My other pumpkin is a 871 Richart and has an OTT of 330.5 for an estimated
weight of 713 lbs. This pumpkin was crossed with the 1016 LaRue and also
should have excellent seed stock.
All things being equal, I hope to make the seed available to interested AG
growers.
Cheers - Jake in Port Alberni, B.C.
