Powdery Mildew

Greetings,
I had developed a rapidly spreading case of powdery mildew.
I checked the archives and then went to my local ACE to
pick up the proscribed medicine.  They didn't carry anything
listed for mildew in gardens...just for roses.  I asked
Scott in the garden section what to do and he suggested the following:

Mix 1 teaspoon of dish detergent (I used Dawn) in one gallon of water
and spray on any effected leaves.  I sprayed my leaves and in less than
12 hours, almost all traces of the mildew were gone.  All this in the midst
of extremely high humidity and three days of rain caused by hurricane Isis.
