I've been pinching and plucking steadily for three weeks, and the
process will not stop. My mentor, brock, the pumpkin king of Boonville,
says not to fertilize now for fear of splitting the big one wide open.
Makes sense, for the shell is woody and cantelouped over 70% of the
bloated thing. I am going to be crushed if the thing weighs 699 lbs. on
Oct. 3.
