Hi Frank
That's really a good question. I haven't been around the rock garden
societies very long, so this may have been well covered in the past. The
only name that comes to mind as haing a serious and continued interest
in Astragalus is vendor Alan Bradshaw at Alplains, you might write him
if you cannot find it elsewhere. (I am not supposed to be plugging
sources, :-) but the catalog is full of good SEED GERMINATION
information)
I am not so certain it would be harmless to try legume innoculant on
them, but maybe. There are I think three common types of innoculant, at
least; I have seen some remarks though about them being somewhat
specific.
It strikes me that the USDA might have some information, since someone
in the past probably though of using the "Locoweed" Astragaluses and
Oxytropises as crops or green manures.
(PS: How's webtv? Nice not to have your face in the screen!)
Good Gardening!
Robert Carl
