I grow a lot of simple annuals in 8 inch pots using standard peat based
potting mix. At the end of the season, the plants go in the compost and the
used peat mix is saved. The second year I use this in my own mix for larger
containers, adding ground bark, compost, and some garden soil. The third
season this large container mix is dumped in the garden to improve the soil
there.
