Hi,
I'm new to the list and have been reading posts for about a month. I've been
able to get a lot of help with other seeds I'm germinating just by reading
others' posts. However, there is one thing I'm germinating that I need help
with, please.
I've been germinating Verbena Bonariensis seeds since Feb. 9. I ordered them
from Johnny's. The seed packet mentions they are slow to germinate, so I
wasn't expecting anything for a while. However, one lone seedling--out of
about 36 seeds that I sowed--is up and I don't know weather to put the whole
flat under the lights now or wait a couple more days to see if anything else
comes up (these seeds need darkness to germinate).
I've always been confused on when to put seedlings under the lights. Some
gardeners say put the seedlings under lights as soon as the first one comes
up, others say wait until 30, 40, or 50% have germinated. I have played this
by ear in the past, but I don't know what to do about this Verbena.
Does anyone have experience growing this? Thanks for your assistance.
