I have a growing room in my garage. I followed a plan which was published
in Fine Gardening during its first year. I cannot remember the issue number.
So I winged the design to my specs:
I have three rows with two sets of shop lights on each row. The back wall is
placed on insulated interior wall of my house. The two outside walls(left and
right) have 1.5-2" styrofoam(sp?) insulation and the front wall has a foil
insulation door which I roll up to access the flats. The height is 6' and
the width is 4.5'. The structure is built out of 2x4's and the depth is the
length of a 1040 flat. The top has the styrofoam insulation.
The benefits of the three rows, that each row provides
you a different temperature range. The top averages around 78-80F and the bottom
stays around 60 degrees F. You can change the temp buy removing a light or
opening a door. It works well for me. The disadvantage is air circulation and
when the seed germinate, where do I put all the plants. Thats another story...
