Dear Peter;
We propagate Michelia figo here when the new growth has hardened
some the tips may still be growing. You can dip the base of the cutting
in liquid footing hormone (maybe 5000ppm) or use rootone(the advantage
here is the added fungicide) We use oasis for a medium but perlite will
work too.
I am not familiar with M.alba. You say it blooms all summer. M. figo
does not, at least not here.
